WINE CELLAR RECONSTRUCTION

In the region of south Moravia there is an old tradition of small picturesque wine cellar aisles which are very popular among the visitors. Nowadays these aisles are losing their beauty, because owners of old wine cellars usually extend it by building a two floor house on it which is not respecting any tradition. Suddenly the small scale of little cellars is gone and there are three storey buildings in tiny streets.

Important to me in this project was to show other principle of reconstruction and extension. The most important is to preserve a small scale of the street and wine cellar. Old cellar got a new front and a new terrace on tis roof which is connected with tasting room hidden underground. Next to the old wine cellar there is a new little house with underground pressing room connected with old wine cellar. There are also three small rooms for staying overnight in the first floor. Both object are part of the opposite guesthouse which has the same owner.
